There are many sites advertising for freelance writers. Most of these charge a fee to join and then you can browse their directory of advertisers who need writers. The ones I have seen almost always charge a monthly fee. Once you are in, you get to bid on the jobs being offered. You have no guarantees as to whether or not you will even get the job. Not a good investment.

Associated Content This is my personal favorite. They pay for each article you submit. There are some rules to follow, but it is very easy. I have made good money with this site.
poewar.com This site seems to have it all. The Writer's resource center offers many opportunities for writers. Whether it is freelance, editing, proof-reading, or article submission. They have many new leads daily. So check with them often.
journalismjobs.com They claim to be a job board for media professionals. They also have many jobs posted for freelance work. Quite an extensive site. Very easy to navigate.
National Writer's Union This site has it all when it comes to protecting yourself as a writer. Whether you freelance or self-publish, you need to check this out. Safe guards on how to protect your work, companies to stay away from, mistakes to avoid, all listed here.
Freelance Writing.com You will find just about any job here that deals with writing, editing, publishing, or scripting. If you have a passion for writing, here you go.
Webmaster's Diaries This is a revenue sharing website that allows you to earn as you write. There is no limit as to how much you can write.
Demand Studios This company hires freelance writers and pays $15 per article when they are accepted. They pay through PayPal every Friday.
e-How You can write for this company as an independent writer and gain a following of readers. You will earn money for the page views your article generates.
